Local landscape, 2026

National Grid's Yorkshire reinforcement programme and a wave of solar option approaches across Holderness and East Lindsey have made compensation work the busiest part of the rural department. On valuations, IHT enquiries from HMRC's District Valuer are markedly more detailed than two years ago — particularly on hope value at the York and Beverley fringes. Worth getting your reports right first time.

How our professional fees work

Red Book valuations are quoted on a flat fee, agreed in writing before we inspect. Landlord & tenant work, compensation negotiations and expert witness instructions are billed at hourly rates against an estimate. On most compensation claims the acquiring authority pays our reasonable fees as part of the settlement — meaning the work is effectively at no net cost to the landowner.
