Kexby is a small village on the eastern edge of the City of York council area, beside the A1079 and close to the River Derwent.
The settlement is mainly linear, with traditional houses, farms and newer homes facing open farmland near the York-East Riding boundary.
Kexby forms a small eastern gateway to York, set where the A1079 meets the River Derwent landscape. The linear settlement remains closely connected to surrounding fields despite the importance of the road corridor.
Older houses, farms and later homes create a modest village environment with open views on either side. Nearby Dunnington and Stamford Bridge provide larger centres, while Kexby retains a quieter scale.
